Our products all share the same aim…to create a better life for people living in developing countries without reliable electricity. We are dedicated to delivering efficient light, clean power, connectivity and convenience, and to help people to thrive and not just survive. We work tirelessly to develop new products and technology to enable this vision.
We won’t leave anyone behind
However, we believe that everybody should have access to the free, clean and abundant energy of the sun, with no exceptions. So we push the boundaries to meet the needs of the more than 65 million displaced people around the world. Fleeing from humanitarian crises and natural disasters, these people often live in makeshift tented settlements and humanitarian camps in remote areas, without electricity. We collaborate closely with governments, aid and relief agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to forge partnerships that will result in products specifically designed to meet their needs.
Our approach already benefits refugees
In our first such collaboration, we have partnered with the IFRC Shelter Research Unit and the PRACTICA Foundation to develop and launch the Solar Shelter Kit. This development was enabled via S(P)EEDKITS, a project funded via the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration (grant agreement 284931). This breakthrough product promises to bring a better life to displaced people everywhere.
The product’s solar panel is designed so that it can be easily fixed to the roof of any structure. Once installed, the user can thread the long 5 meter cable into the dwelling, and then use the power of the solar panel to charge the multi-purpose light and phone charger.
